As the conclusion of spring practice is upon us, many of the SEC teams have shown that change is definitely in the air. Speaking of air, the Arkansas Razorbacks showed an air attack that hasn't been seen in Fayetteville for years if not decades. Bobby Petrino is bringing a new brand of football and the Hog fans are definitely looking forward to the fall. The Ole Miss Rebels are also debuting a new coach in Houston Nutt. The Rebels spring football game had a record 28,000 in attendance. Ole Miss should show a more progressive ground attack while throwing in a few pass plays. The Rebels are well stocked and should have a strong showing this fall. Alabama not to be out done had 60,000 plus for their spring game. The Tide are poised to make a run for the SEC West title. Nick Saban is starting to get his recruits up to speed making this team a favorite to win the West. Auburn and LSU will also be contenders. Auburn has a new offense and defense. it'll be exciting to see how the new systems work on the plains. LSU is fresh off its championship, but may not be as good this fall as last year. They are full of talent but lost alot of experience. Also there is a question mark at quarterback with Ryan Perrilloux's disciplinary issues. All in all, the West is going to be wild as usual.
Over on the East side it looks like it may be a three team race. Steve Spurrier has been itchin to make a move and this may be the year he gets his team to the top of the East. However, he has to contend the perennial powers of Georgia and Florida. Vanderbilt, Kentucky, and Tennessee may be a little down this year. Tennessee is dealing with the loss of their offensive coordinator David Cutcliffe. The Vols shouldn't be counted out bit it's going to be a tough race.
This spring has been a great appetizer. I can't wait til this fall. It's gonna be a great season. My early prediction is that the SEC will again be represented int the BCS Championship game.
