Abstract: Ryan Mallett, the freshman quarterback for Michigan, decided to transfer once Rich Rodriguez was hired at Michigan.

Ryan Mallett, the freshman quarterback for Michigan, decided to transfer once Rich Rodriguez was hired at Michigan.  Mallett is a pro style pocket quarterback and Rodriguez's system utilizes mobile quarterbacks.  Mallett was looking at several schools, including Tennessee and Texas A&M,  In the end he decided to go to Arkansas due to the proximity to his hometown of Texarkana, TX and new Arkansas Head Coach Bobby Petrino.  Petrino's offense is known for its explosive passing attacks.  Although it is a spread offense, the quarterback plays more of a pro style and is not expected to run.

Mallett's enrollment at Arkansas is awaiting release from his scholarship at Michigan and transcript transfers.
