Abstract: The SEC has 9 teams in bowl games this year. Check out the preview and the predictions.
Liberty Bowl
UCF vs. Mississippi State
Sylvester Croom will have his Bulldogs ready for their first bowl game in more than half a decade. The Bulldogs will have to stop the UCF running attack led by Kevin Smith. Smith needs 183 yds to break Barry Sanders single season rushing record. If Mississippi State can stop the run, they should be able to get a win.
UCF 10
Mississippi State 17
Independence Bowl
Alabama has been on a skid lately, with the embarrassing loss to Louisiana Monroe. The Tide will have to rise up to get a win against a very good Colorado team. The Buffs were able to beat Oklahoma and should be ready for the Tide.
Alabama 17
Colorado 27
Music City Bowl
Kentucky vs. Florida State
Florida State will be short handed for this game with all the suspensions for cheating. Kentucky should be able to take advantage of the Florida State player shortage. Andre Woodson will showcase his abilities for the NFL and with an emerging rushing attack, the Wildcats are a formidable opponent. This one could be high scoring.
Kentucky 35
Florida State 14
Chick-fil-A Bowl
The coaches for this game have something in common. Both of them used the Arkansas coaching vacancy to get raises. Clemson has a great running game with CJ Spiller and James Davis. Auburn’s offense has struggled this year, but the defense has been able to hold up nicely. This is going to be a physical grind. Auburn has found ways to win this year and should be able to find it one more time.
Clemson 6
Auburn 10
Outback Bowl
Tennessee has Erik Ainge and Wisconsin has PJ Hill. Tennessee likes to pass while Wisconsin likes to run. The Big10 may be able to get this one and continue the argument that they are a legitimate football conference. The Volunteers were able to shut down a high-powered Arkansas running attack and should be able to slow down Wisconsin.
Tennessee 27
Wisconsin 13
Cotton Bowl
Missouri vs. Arkansas
This will most likely be Darren McFadden’s last game as a Razorback. Arkansas should have a strong fan showing. Missouri is still looking for some respect after being snubbed by the BCS. This should a close competitive game.
Missouri 24
Arkansas 31
Capital One Bowl
Florida gets to play a Big10 team for the second consecutive year. They were able to handle Ohio State last year and should do the same this year with Michigan. Tim Tebow’s versatility will keep the Wolverine defense on their heels.
Michigan 14
Florida 30
Sugar Bowl
Georgia gets a pass happy Hawaii team that will try to outscore the Bulldogs. Georgia needs to control the clock and keep the Hawaii offense on the sidelines. Hawaii is undefeated, but has not played an SEC caliber team until now. Georgia should be able to manage the game with the emergence of running back Knowshown Moreno.
Hawaii 28
Georgia 37
BCS National Championship
Ohio State manages to get into the championship game for the second consecutive year. It’s also second consecutive year they get an SEC team. LSU is quicker than Ohio State and do have the ability to blow out the Buckeyes much like Florida did a year ago. LSU may not spread it out as much as Florida but the speed is better than Florida’s. This one may be over by halftime.
LSU 38
Ohio State 14
